History
Purebred Kennel Club of America (PKCA) is directed by a Board who came up the ranks as “Breeders” giving them 30 years of “hands-on knowledge” in the aspects of the industry. With this in mind, this registry was developed as “Breeder Friendly” to accomodate the breeders and their customers.
Edward and Linda Dunbar founded Purebred Kennel Club of America in 1998. Their desire was to develop a registry to help the breeders with the cost of doing business. By assigning a unique number to each canine PKCA creates a control to the sire and dam. That number is good for only 15 years. If a canine lives longer than 15 years they are not producing offsprings. The number can never be used again because it is used in pedigree formation for future generations. Litter registration seemed to be an added expense to breeders. The Dunbar's decided PKCA would not require preregistering the puppy litters.
Paulette Pennington joined PKCA to bring added experience in maintaining a website and a database. Paulette possess a Bachalor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. Her duties are of an administrative nature, but will fill in when assistance is needed.
Due to some internal problem PKCA thought it necessary to hire an Office Manager. Michelle Nelson will now fill that position. She will be available during the day from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST. She comes to PKCA with years of office and accounting experience. PKCA has experienced a big growth causing delays in processing. The delays in processing have become an issue and she is challenged to correct this issue. Michelle started with PKCA August 15, 2011.
Unfortunately, time comes when everyone wants to retire. Edward and Linda Dunbar have taken a less active roll in PKCA. They remain on the board and oversee administrative functions, but no longer are active in the day-to-day functions of the business.
